Where Do Old Chairs Go?

Trying to furnish the new Sky Ridge Pavilion Event Center without spending a fortune and by recycling – but  cannot seem to find where all the old tables and chairs go. Do people keep them forever? Is there a special place where used tables and chairs go off to when people don’t need them any more? Many fond memories of  VFW Halls,  schools and churches with literally hundreds of tables and chairs – perhaps they never left?

Seems rather sad – visions of hundreds…thousands even,  of perfectly good tables and chairs waiting and wishing they could be a part of someone’s wedding or reception or reunion again.  Just sitting, forlorn and forgotten. It’s a  lonely existence when they could be here at The Retreat feeling useful and wanted again.

Guess a lot of money will be spent on new stuff – stuff that probably isn’t nearly as good as the well-built yet forgotten and unwanted stuff in some nearby hall, school or church basement or storage. Sad but true. And Craig’s List has been no help -  horrid Craig’s List experiences here – what is for sale is mysteriously sold as soon as someone arrives to get it – cheats and liars running rampant it seems. It wouldn’t be so bad if everything wasn’t a 50 mile drive (one way) – big waste of gas and time for nothing – not helpful or fair, but life can be that way sometimes.

If you happen to see a room full of serviceable chairs and tables forgotten and unused somewhere, know they could have a new life -  a forever home – if we just knew where they were.
